KENYA – [UPDATED] Police Clearance Certificate Requirement Suspended
UPDATE As of Wednesday 4 October 2017, the recently enforced requirement to submit police clearance certificates in support of applications for work permits and passes has been suspended until further notice.
Effective 2 October 2017, the Kenyan Department of Immigration Services began enforcing a requirement that original police clearance certificates (PCC) must be submitted in support of initial and renewal applications for all work permit and pass types, including Class D work permits, Dependent Passes and Student Passes.
What exactly is the requirement?
All applicants aged 18 years and above must obtain a police clearance certificate from their country of residence. For renewal applications, if the applicant is currently in Kenya, they can obtain the PCC from Nairobi Criminal Investigation Department (CID). If the PCC is not in English, any translated version will need to be legalised.
Companies employing foreign nationals in Kenya should contact an immigration specialist to check the latest documentary requirements.
