PERU - New Entry Rules for Venezuelan Nationals
Effective 15 June 2019 at 00:00, the Peruvian immigration authorities will only allow Venezuelan nationals to enter Peru if they have a valid passport and visa.
It will no longer be possible to apply for a humanitarian visa at the border. Venezuelan nationals who intend to enter Peru with a "Humanitarian Visa" will be able to apply for one at the General Consulates of Peru in Caracas and Puerto Ordaz, in Venezuela; as well as, exceptionally, in Bogotá, Medellín and Leticia, in Colombia; and in Cuenca, Guayaquil, Quito, Machala and Loja, in Ecuador.
Alternatively, Venezuelan nationals may apply for a Tourist, Business or other immigration status (other than Humanitarian) at any Peruvian Consulate abroad.?
In response, the Venezuelan government has announced a reciprocal visa requirement for Peruvian nationals.
This change will affect anyone using the services of Peruvian consulates, as their increased workload is likely to lead to increased processing times.
Employers who may be affected are encouraged to contact a Newland Chase immigration specialist for case-specific advice.
