New OCI Portal Launched: A Digital Leap for the Global Indian Diaspora

Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) was introduced by the Government of India 2005 under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act. The OCI card allows a foreign citizen of Indian origin to live, work, and travel freely across India. The OCI card was introduced since the Government of India does not recognize dual citizenship.

Big Update: New OCI Card Portal Launched in May 2025

On May 19, 2025, the Government of India launched a revamped OCI portal to improve the OCI application process online. Unveiled by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the upgraded website is now live at https://ociservices.gov.in
